COURSE OUTLINE: Ch. 1-4 + parts of 5, 7, 10
CLASS OPERATION:
- Homework will be assigned regularly and collected every week or
two. It will be collected at the start of class on Tuesdays,
graded, and returned on Thursdays. Difficulties
will be discussed in class or answer keys provided.
- Late homework: 1 day late -20%, 2 days late -40%, ... , no credit
after graded homework has been returned.
- 2 hourly exams (after Chs. 1-2 and after Chs. 3-5, at roughly the
1/3 and
2/3 marks of the semester). In class, closed book and notes, no
calculators.
- Final exam (on last 1/3 only) during regularly scheduled period
(Thur.,
May 8, 12:45-3:00).
- No makeup exams without prior arrangement.
- Please adhere to the following rules of common courtesy: cell
phones off; no laptops; no
magazines, newspapers, etc.; no working on other material in class;

GRADES: 2 hourly exams, final, and homework each count
25%.
