3.1 Vocabulary for Introduction to Logarithms

 

 

 

Integers

The counting numbers {1, 2, 3, 4, …}, their negatives, and zero.  Mathematicians use the letter  to indicate the set of integers.   

 

 

Power

The exponent of a base.  When an integer, it’s the number of times a base is multiplied by itself.
