As a graduate student in the field of Mathematics, there are several associations that give memberships to graduate students to encourage their research and networking. While you are at Kent State University, we encourage your membership in these associations to help you gain valuable online, journal, and conference resources.


AMS - The American Mathematical Society    

AMS membership information

Founded in 1888 to further mathematical research and scholarship, the American Mathematical Society fulfills its mission through programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life.

MAA - The Mathematical Association of America   

MAA membership information

The mission of the MAA is "to advance the mathematical sciences, especially at the collegiate level." They pursue these interests through extensive programs, meetings, and publications, well over one hundred national committees, and 29 regional sections.

SIAM - Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics

SIAM membership information

SIAM exists to ensure the strongest interactions between mathematics and other scientific and technological communities through membership activities, publication of journals and books, and conferences.

AWM - Association for Women in Mathematics

AWM membership information

The purpose of the Association for Women in Mathematics is to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences.

YMN -The Young Mathematicians Network

YMN site information page 

The Young Mathematicians' Network is a loose organization of mathematicians in the junior part of their careers founded in 1993. Membership requires creating an online account, and is free. There are two ways you can register with YMN:
  • You can create your own login/account on our online interactive newsletter (aka the scoop site). With this account you can post articles or comments under your own login (vs by "Anonymous Hero"); and have digest of posted articles mailed to you daily, weekly or monthly.
  • And/or you can add your email address to our mailing list to receive monthly digests of the articles that are posted to our online interactive newsletter.
