HOME IMPROVEMENTS

I will find some more 'before' pics soon so you can compare, but this will do for now... Notice how dark the house USED to look compared to now...

BEFORE: The kitchen when the sink used to be on the side wall (the wall adjoining the bathroom). The 'new' sink is now in between the kitchen and living room. The back hallway is totally different now too. ('99?)

BEFORE: The kitchen looking towards the kitchen window. Notice the cabinet in the corner. We don't have that cabinet now. Also, the window doesn't look at all like that.  ('99?)

BEFORE: The living room before we tore up the carpet and stuff. I'm so glad that carpet is gone! I miss the couch though (I reupholstered it myself). It's at my Mom's house now. ('99?)

BEFORE: The living room before we tore up the carpet and stuff. Notice the color of the walls and the shelf by the front door. (Ignore the horrible picture of me - it was Christmas morning for pete's sake.) ('99?)

BEFORE: The old walkway from what's now the reading room, into the kitchen. There is now a wall and a fridge there now. ('99?)

The rest of the pictures are more "During" or "After" pictures....

DURING: The kitchen just after we tore down the wall in between the living room and kitchen, and after we put up the cabinets. This view is looking into the kitchen from the living room. Notice the lack of wall behind the stove, etc. ('02?)

DURING: Just after putting down the sub-flooring in the living room. (That's Hobie by the front windows) ('04)

January 2, 2004: Hammering wood onto the wall of the kitchen. Notice how much it looks like flooring? Hmm. Maybe that's because it is....

January 2, 2004: Hammering wood onto the wall of the kitchen - Mike is nearly half done at this point. Starting to look nice!

January 19, 2004: The wall after it's done... This is the corner where the fridge will go. We even put a new shelf up over the office door... The red wall there is where we used to have a doorway to the reading room.

January 19, 2004: The opposite wall after it has been painted. Mike picked out the color - isn't it nice? (This was before we painted the back hallway, too.)

March 7, 2004: Mike cutting custom pieces of wood for the end (where it matches up with the kitchen). This is standing by the TV looking into the kitchen/hallway.

March 7, 2004: Mom helping sort wood out while we are laying out and nailing the wood. This is standing at the front of the house looking into the kitchen.

March 7, 2004: The floor is almost done. This is right after I 'rehooked' up the TV.

April 2, 2004: Finally done... but the living room isn't organized like this now. I'll take a new picture soon of the new couch. The one in this pic is gone.

April 2, 2004: looking from the office into the kitchen. Mike picked out the color of the wall, and created a 'custom' cabinet for that wall so that the furnace can still blow into the kitchen and we still have shelves to store our bottles of wine.

April 2, 2004: The new breakfast window, looking towards the corner of the kitchen. The right side of the picture ends right before the office door. Big difference from the above shot of the kitchen, huh?

October, 2004: Picture of the Bar, looking towards the kitchen. Still some work to do, but the brick and the specially made brackets look terrific!

June, 2005: Building the deck in the backyard:
