CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING, etc. MY CRAFT IDEAS (working on it...) I know it sounds so typically girly, but I truly love creating little crafts, and making scrapbook pages and stuff. I prefer to have unique things in my home instead of buying cookie-cutter things that everyone else has. |
POSTCARDS MY POSTCARD PAGES Not sure why, I just love to get postcards. I have an entire collection of them!!! I think it's just so neat to get a picture along with a letter. And honestly, who is going to read more than half a page of a letter when they have a TON of junk mail to be shredded? Even more important... who is going to write that much when they are on vacation?! |
STAMPS When I remember the official word for stamp collecting, I'll put it here. I don't know why I like stamps. Honestly, they take up room, and they are no fun unless they are really old and you haven't seen them for a few years... but I do like collecting them and going back to look at them from time to time. I don't know if any of them will be worth something, but I just like seeing the pretty way that people communicate across cities, states and countries. I guess I'll be really sad when email takes over permanently and mail becomes 'archaic'. Hope that never happens. |

DREAMS I LOVE hearing about other people's dreams. I love reading about dreams. I have books on dream theory and I keep a dream log. You have no idea how funny, or how strange, dreams can be at times (until you've heard one of mine!). There are so many theories on interpreting dreams, that I'm not sure any one person has really got it right. All I know is... it's really really interesting. By the way - if you know of any research done on infant dreaming and night terrors, I'm looking into that now. |
DRAWING/ART Here's an example of something I drew recently. It was drawn from this picture I took. I won't say that I'm great at drawing, or any other kind of art for that matter. But I do enjoy it a lot. It's very relaxing, and the more I draw, the better I get. And the massive amount of art supplies I have would be very lonely if I didn't use them! |

DANCING I like ALL kinds: club dancing, ballet, jazz, salsa, ballroom, the jitterbug/swing, line-dancing... When I hear music, I just can't sit still! Some favorite clubs:

STRING MY BALL... of string. You know you wanna see my ball... c'mon - click it! Yeah, you heard me. STRING. I mean, c'mon. It's flexible, useful, multi-purpose. Without it, us girls would have some serious problems. It's great for arts and crafts. String, the other white meat. Got String? Just string it! The string-meister, the string-o-rama, the string-o-ling-o-ding-dong. You can string things up, string people along, eat string cheese or string beans, get strung out, make string figures, play a string instrument, type a character string, keep someone on a string, string someone up in the old west (but not in the 21st century), or simply do something for somebody... with no strings attached. Isn't string great? |

CHOCOLATE Chocolate is the BOMB! (Yeah - I need to grow up. Just shut up.) I can't help it - chocolate is like, a party in your mouth. The best is chocolate fruit and nut bars from Cadbury, or Swiss Chocolate. I really love the Hershey company too. They do wonderful things. But I prefer Swiss chocolate to Hershey's as far as taste goes. I don't think there has been a chocolate that I don't like yet. I used to like milk chocolate the best, but I'm really getting hooked on dark chocolate. |
CHEESE I LOVE cheese. I like white cheeses, yellow cheeses, stinky cheeses, stringy cheeses... you name any food and I'll say it tastes better with cheese on it. I love trying new cheeses. I loved it when I took a trip overseas and got to try out all the different cheeses with the wonderful breads, all warm and toasty. I like bread too... but I like cheese better. |
TRYING NEW FOOD! MY RECIPES... and tips... and other stuff I'm one of those people that believes they should try everything once... and then a second time to make sure if they like it or not. Someone once said that to me and it stuck. I used to be a picky eater, but I've changed my ways! |

ANIMALS - The American Bald Eagle - a friend of mine actually did summer research helping to tag baby eagles in 2002. - White Tigers - Manatees - Saw them in FL. - "The Big Five" - The Cape Buffalo, The Elephant, The Leopard, The Lion, and The Rhino. I would LOVE to go on a safari!!!! I really want to see a Kudo. I can't get enough of the stories I hear about Africa from Joe. - Koalas - I love seeing how they carry their babies on their back. - Hyenas - to explain this would take time. LETTERBOXING http://www.letterboxing.org/ Not sure how to describe letterboxing, except that it is kind of like treasure hunting using clues to find a box that holds a journal with a stamp. Hmmm. I think I just figured out how to describe it. My personal letterboxing count: I've tried to find like, three letterboxes, but have come up empty handed each time. My son found 2 already without me. :-( I'm going to try harder this summer. |
COMEDY Some shows and channels aren't anything without the comedy or their comedians. Especially the female comediennes - Like Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, etc. I love to laugh, and when I hear something really funny, the whole neighborhood knows. We aren't afraid to laugh REALLY loud in our family. It's good for the health - mind, body and spirit. Laughing reminds me why life is good. So "Find something to laugh about". You know, a wise person once said that there is a strong correlation between laughter and how happy you are. If you find things to laugh at, it makes it harder to be depressed. FAIRYTALE CREATURES Get your own gnome name! 1) Gnomes (Rien Poortvliet Gnomes) - fell in love with them ever since I read the book. 2) Brian (and Wendy) Froud - creator of fairy pressings, Dark Crystal, Labrynth, etc. He does wonderful work on 'fantastical' creatures! 3) Fairies/Pixies (ever see a fairy pressing?) 4) Mermaids!!! (not the 'little' one) I love the Mermaid Collection by Jason Gold and mermaid lore. 4) Dragons - like Dragonheart, the movie 5) Unicorns, and I guess Pegasus too (a childhood fascination) |

Honestly, people. Check out this guy's awesome haunts and projects! He sets up his house in Oregon every year to scare the kids and make sure they experience a real 'Halloween'. :-) |

No one likes playing cards with me though - I always take too dang long to make a play, and then when I do, it is usually a risky one that ends up losing me and my partner points... but I don't care - it's still fun!!! Don't get me wrong... greeting cards are awesome too. I love getting and giving them. But there's just not much to write about them here. |

These are those posters that you see in the middle of the mall that look really busy and mundane, but if you stare at them long enough and relax your eyes... a new 3D picture pops out at you! Love those things. I could stare at them for like... a REALLY long time. |

PARKS & CAMPING Parks are a very cool thing. My family (all sides, old & young) loves to go hiking, camping and horseback riding in a lot of parks in Ohio. Check out some of the parks near you and take some time to relax. It's a great way to chill out! (Especially if you go on a winter hike! Those are beautiful!)
