An interesting link I found - some of these videos are hilarious, others are really shocking. Either way, it's fun to check out:  http://www.military.com/shock

MY GOAL: To practice on my bike so that I will be ready to go to Woodward bike camp in 2004 for a week with a new bike and learn new tricks. If you would like to see what Woodward camp is like, you can visit http://www.campwoodward.com/wweast/east_index.html and check out the bmx freestyle part.

I WON THE SCIENCE FAIR FOR FIRST GRADE!

My project was about the Cuyahoga River. I learned a lot and kept a research book to show everything that I learned. I even made a river in my own backyard to learn about it. My mom took a picture of me with my trophy and my project display. Click here to see the pictures, and then hit your "BACK" button to get back here.

The following are some cool facts about "Special Military Forces" - these were taken from the Eyewitness Visual Dictionaries (Dorling Kindersly). Ever wondered how they can sneak a tool-kit across enemy lines undetected? or How they disguised maps of enemy territory so no one would suspect them? This is classic James Bond kinda stuff - just check out these couple:
  • There are two really neat ways to disguise a map, so that it is a secret. One way they used to do it is by cutting it into sections that are playing card size, and concealing it under ACTUAL playing cards. Look here to see for yourself. Another way is to print it in secret ink on a handkerchief. But I'm not sure you want to know how to get the ink to show up. Look here to see for yourself.
  • Now, about that tool-kit. I'm sure they have better ways of doing this nowadays, but back in the 60's, they used to keep little blades and saws and drills hidden in a tool-kit that you can hide in your... um. Well, let's just say that it is called a U.S. Intelligence Services' Rectal Toolkit. Look here to see for yourself.
  • The Desert Forces have to cope with extremes of temperature and water shortage, as well as facing the difficulties of defending and travelling across vast areas of almost featureless terrain. Here is a view of the British Special Air Service's Land Rover named the "Pink Panther". It had larger fuel tanks so that it could have a longer range (run longer) and was colored pink to camouflage it in the sand.

The Post office came out with a stamp for the United States Military Academy (not sure when). Here is a quick view of it. Click on the picture if you would like to buy some of these online at www.usps.com

Here is a short story from Marty Heinzman about the war that she was in... A war between a mouse and a determined Mother:

"One day when I was cooking in the stove and little Mike was around (Mike, Sr.), a mouse run outta the stove when I was cooking and I screamed and screamed and screamed for being scared from that mouse." - Marty Heinzman

"the mouse run out of the stove on my mom..." - words that Mike Sr. wrote in his journal at elementary school after that.

Tune in next time to find out the continuation of the story of "Operation Mouse Hunt".
